A night that saw the Country’s whose who all gather at one
of Durban’s most fascinating fashion events, Fashion by the Sea. We at FFCD were
honoured to spend the evening watching a show of spectacular standard and chatting
with the likes of Liezel van der Westhuizen (who was also in town to MC the Comrades);
we also got to meet some of Durban’s most elite crowd.
The show was divided into 3 segments and saw Colleen Eitzen
open the first segment followed by Life by Andre Martin, whose pieces showed
off exactly why his Life stores have been so very successful and continue to
hold its place in the industry. New comer Zarth by Zama closed the first
segment and left us speechless as we marvelled at her exquisite collection. I
would suggest looking her up and adding her to your list of names to remember, so
excited to see Durban talent doing so well!

After an interval (where glasses were topped up and
conversation was stirred) we headed back to the pier for segment two. Amanda
Laird Cherry opened the Durban Home Coming Segment followed by Tatum Keshwar opening
for Craig Native and helped get everyone in the mood for his playful
collection. We adored his models showing off some personality on the runway, very
true to Durban’s charm.
Next up was Craig Port, who is also extremely well known and
respected in the fashion industry; his collection was highly anticipated and
definitely met all our expectations, sheer brilliance!
During another short interval, we caught up with Craig Port
and he was gracious enough to chat with us and let us snap a few social shots
of him.

The final segment may very well have been one of the biggest
draw cards to Friday nights show and this being our first time getting to
witness the elegance of a Gavin Rajah collection was overwhelming. The lights dipped,
there was a slight dramatic pause and the first model appeared, nothing short
of sheer beauty and elegance. Our every expectation was met and many young
fashionista’s who braved the cold weather on Friday night left with smiles on
their faces after one of our Country’s greatest showed why he holds a place in
most women’s hearts and wardrobes.
The night ended with the sky bursting into spectacular
colours as a fireworks display closed off one of Durban’s most exciting annual
fashion events.
